CARLOS R. BRAUN

The economic Liberalism


Having devoted the most part of his life to Economics, Carlos Rodríguez Braun is a very well known expert in economic thoughts and liberalism.

As Professor in History of Economic thoughts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he combines a higher academic requirement with his ability to reach the public. As it is shown in every media in which he takes part in his published books and in more than three thousand articles that he has written. He was Managing Director for "España Económica" and Assistant Director for "Cambio 16" as well as for the TV show "El valor del Dineo". At present he iscolaborating as a columnist in ABC, Expansion and the Internet newspaper "Libertad Digital", as well as for a radio show in "Onda Cero".

He is member of the Academia Nacional de Ciencas Económicas de la Argentina, member of the American Economic Association, of the History of Economics Society, of the Asociación de Historia Económica and of the Society Mont Pèlerin and member of the advisers' council of several scientific publications in Spain and other countries.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1948, he knows much about the Argentine economy and consequently about his current crisis.

Moving back to Spain in 1999 he was appointed advisor to the Spanish State Secretary for Sports, Francisco Villar, officiating this position until 2001.

In January 2001 he was named Deputy Director General of Real Madrid Football Club. He took office as Real Madrid's Sportive Director General as successor of Jorge Valdano in October 2004. In December of the same year he was nominated Vice President under the Presidency of Florentino Pérez executing this charge until July 2006.
