EMILIO BUTRAGUEÑO
Nearly his entire professional career, as football player and executive, is closely linked to the Real Madrid Football Club. During the 80s he won five times the Spanish football championships and two UEFA Cups and representing as its symbol and part of it "La quinta del Buitre", a whole generation of extraordinary players like Butragueño, Míchel and Manuel Sanchís.
He scored 26 goals in 69 matches for the Spanish national team, playing the European Championships in 1984 and 1988 and the World Championships in 1986 and 1990. In 1986's World Championship he became history scoring four of five goals in the match against Denmark (5:1). He finished his career in 1998 in México's Atlético Celaya which achieved with Emilio Butrageño their best season ever.
After finishing his career he moved to the US studying management.
Moving back to Spain in 1999 he was appointed advisor to the Spanish State Secretary for Sports, Francisco Villar, officiating this position until 2001.
In January 2001 he was named Deputy Director General of Real Madrid Football Club. He took office as Real Madrid's Sportive Director General as successor of Jorge Valdano in
October 2004. In December of the same year he was nominated Vice President under the Presidency of Florentino Pérez executing this charge until July 2006.
