Fernando Sánchez Dragó

Award -Winning Journalist and Writer


Sanchez Dragó graduated in Roman Philology and Modern Languages in the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the University of Madrid, and earned successfully his Literature Doctorate in the same university. Assiduous traveller, he visited 74 countries and was professor of History, Literature and Spanish Language in 13 universities in Spain, Italy, Japan, Senegal, Morocco, Jordan, Kenya and the United States. Currently he directs and hosts Noches Blancas, a program about books and the Diario Informativo de la Noche (News), both en Telemadrid. Also he is a recurring collaborator for El Mundo newspaper, ABC newspaper and Punto Radio.

He is the recipient of numerous journalism and literature awards, including:

. National Award of the Encouragement of Reading (conceded by the Ministry of Education and Culture).
. Award of the Companionship of Editors for the best television program (Negro sobre Blanco).
. Award of the Egyptian Tourism for the best article about Egypt which appeared in the Spanish press (Nosce te ipsum, Época).
. Ondas Award in 1988 in Radiocadena.

Sanchez Drago has imparted over 150 conferences and presentations in universities and cultural centres of different cities in Spain, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Venezuela, the Netherlands, France and the United States.

He is the author of numerous articles, reviews, literary characterisations and monographs published in Cuadernos de Arte y Pensamiento, El País, ABC, Diario 16, Tiempo, El Correo Español, La Voz de Galicia, Interviú, Viajar, Celtiberia, Papeles de Son Armadans, Más Allá, Conciencia Planetaria, Aldebarán, Galatea, Ínsula, Revista de Occidente, Cuadernos del Norte, La Bicicleta, Ajoblanco, El Viejo Topo, Cisneros, El Manifiesto, La Aventura de la Historia, Siete Leguas, etc.

As a writer he published among others: "Una historia mágica de España", National Award of Literature in 1979; "La prueba del laberinto", Planeta Award in 1992; "Koroko" published in La esfera de los libros, 2005; "Muertes paralelas", Award Fernando Lara of novels, 2006; His last publication is "Libertad, fraternidad, desigualdad: derechazos" (Ed.Altera, 2007).
