Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros has been High Commissioner for the Spain Brand (Marca España) since July 2012. His prime objective is improving Spain’s image abroad and promoting it internationally through public and private events.

Thanks to his breadth of vision and the depth of his analyses on complex subjects such as aeronautics, transport, strategy and logistics he is a speaker who is able to give talks to highly-specialized audiences. He has extensive knowledge of the internationalization processes of Spanish businesses, particularly in the motor vehicle and airline industries. Carlos is a member of NATO’s Wisemen Group for analyzing European industry and an advisor to the European Community for the study of the future of the aeronautical industry.

He was Chairman of the board of DaimlerChrysler Spain Holding for over 20 years and CEO of Mercedes Benz Spain. Currently, he is a board member of Inditex, where he was also Vice-president (2005-2012), Acciona and Schindler. In addition, Carlos is Chairman of the insurance company Fraternidad Muprespa. Outside Spain, he is a board member of the UK-based Yell group and of the engineering firm Arcadis.

He has also been Sales Director and Vice-president of the Instituto Nacional de Industria (National Institute of Industry), CEO of Iberia and Aviaco, member of the IATA Executive Committee, President of the Círculo de Empresarios (Businessmen’s Association), Chairman of the Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones (Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers) and of the Organización Internacional de Constructores de Automóviles (International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers).

He holds a master’s in Business Administration from the Northwestern University, has been a professor of International Economics at ICADE business school, and sits on the trustee boards of several universities and foundations. He is an Advisory Board member of the newspapers Expansión and Actualidad Económica.
