Gareth Jones is an author, Professor and keynote speaker whose career has spanned both the academic and business world. Jones has developed insightful theories that have positioned him as a global expert on leadership and business organizational culture. He currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of People Management Magazine, and is a visiting Professor at Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and INSEAD, Fontainebleau. He is also a Fellow of the Centre for Management Development at London Business School.
In his conferences, Jones addresses valuable topics for managers and executives as he analyzes the role of creativity in creating competitive strength and resilience, building leadership and creating an effective organizational environment. Jones started his career at the University of East Anglia, where he was an academic in Economic and Social Studies, and later joined the Organizational Behavior Group at the London Business School, where he directed the School’s Accelerated Development Program. Shortly after, he switched his career path and joined Polygram, then the world’s largest music company, where he was appointed Senior Vice President for global human resources. It wasn’t until 1996 that he returned to academia as he was appointed BT Professor of Organizational Development at Henley and served on its Board of Governors. Jones served as Director of Human Resources and Internal Communications at the BBC, too. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and INSEAD, Fontainebleau, and is a Fellow of the Centre for Management Development at London Business School.
Jones’ research is focused on leadership, change, and organizational design and culture; having published several books and articles on these matters. Harvard Business School Press has published many of his books, being one of his most praised books co-authored with Rob Goffee: 'Why Should Anyone Be Led by You?', inspired on an Jones’ article winner of the prestigious McKinsey Award. He has also published articles in the European Management Journal and the Harvard Business Review.
