Gema Hassen-Bey, paralympic fencing pioneer, she won the first fencing medal for Spain in Barcelona 92 Olympics games. She has taken part in five consecutive games and she was the torchbearer of 2004 Athens games. She has a Degree in Information Science and she has hosted social content programs like "The world moves with you" and the first informative summary of 2012 London Paralympic games for the Spanish Television. She regularly gives motivational speeches and prepares management and sports teams.
She is currently preparing to be the first woman on a wheelchair to reach Kilimanjaro summit the highest mountain in Africa, about 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) from its base above sea level.
This challenge is a technological and social entrepreneurship project promoted by the association Bey proAction, with which aims to develop a mountain Handbyke that will help to open the inclusive MTB sport modality and facilitate the movement and enjoyment of nature for people with disabilities.
This pioneering challenge demonstrates that with effort, spirit of improvement and teamwork there are no limitations and as she says there is no disability. There are different capacities and by empowering them we can all reach our summits.
